Over-The-Hill Basketball League started in 2001 after a few years of playing pickup basketball at the Dover High Gym on Sunday mornings. We had two courts going with the younger players on one court and older players on the other. It wasn't long before the number of older players grew. Each week we drew more to the gym. So one day after the games had finished, we sat and discussed whether there could be enough intrest to start a competetive 50 and over basketball league. So the founding fathers, Steve Towne, Rick Sheldon, Bruce McAdam and Ron Anderson set about to form a charter and obtain gym time. They suceeded enough to field 4 teams of 10 players each. That lasted for two years, adding a fifth team in year three. By year five it became a six team league and has continued for more than a decade. Only the Covid-19 pandemic has interupted the run as the competition continues. With the hopeful return of the league in 2021, it will be the 19th year of the league. A fine run indeed.
