Mike Bernier’s 25-point night led River Bend Pizza to a 67-28 win over Civilworks New England on Wednesday night Over-The-Hill Basketball action. Dave Hersey added 14 points as RBP improved to 7-4 on the season. Civilworks got 8 points from Greg Palmer and 7 from Barry McDonald in the loss.
Game 2 saw RCC Construction keep pace with a hard fought 36-29 victory over Flynn Insurance. Led by Doug Langdon (15 points) and Al Garcia (10 points), RCC turned a close affair at half and pulled away in the second stanza. Flynn was paced by Matt Stith with 10 points and Rob Boshar, who had 8 points and 12 rebounds.
The evening’s final game was one of the season’s best. Bolton Construction eked out a 54-53 win over Thompson Tavern on a late three-pointer by George Gibson. Tom Vitko’s double-double night, 27 points and 10 rebounds, led the way for Bolton Construction. Thompson Tavern got very balanced scoring and was led by John Rademacher with 15 points followed by Kent Anson’s 11 points.
The regular season concludes with three games scheduled on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at the McConnell Center.
