DOVER — It will be more of the same as the Over-The-Hill Basketball League finished its regular season this week. Only two games were played due to River Bend Pizza having to forfeit their game to Flynn Insurance. Those teams will face each next week as the playoff opening matchup.
RCC Construction got by Thompson Tavern in a 67-66 nailbiter in Game 1 of the evening. Greg Palmer’s 14 second half points (20 total) along with Matt Langis’ 16 led the winners. Barry McDonald added another 10 points in the win. Not to be outdone, Thompson’s also had three players score double digits. John Rademacher (18), Doug Langdon (14) and Mike Moulton (10) paced Thompson’s in the loss. RCC is 3-0 this season against Thompson’s and they will match up again in Game 2 next week in Round One.
Finally, Bolton Construction ran its season best record to 10-2 with a 65-49 win over Civilworks New England. Tom Vitko led the way with 23 points followed by Gary Lytle with 14 as Bolton raced out to an 18 point halftime lead. Civilworks, led by Jeff Barbour’s game-high 25 points, chipped the lead down inside 10 points on a couple of occasions in the second half. But ultimately, Bolton prevailed in this matchup.
Bolton Construction as the Number 1 seed and Civilworks New England as the Number 2 seed will sit out next week and take next week’s winners on Wednesday, February 22 in Round 2 of the playoffs, which then move to the double elimination phase.
