DOVER — Civilworks New England outlasted RCC Construction to advance to the finals of the 2022 Over-The-Hill Basketball League. They face Bolton Construction on Wednesday, March 15. Tipoff is at 6:15 PM.

Civilworks outscored RCC 18-10 over the final ten minutes to secure a 54-48 comeback win in a very tight game.  When RCC’s Ty Powers hit a right-side jump shot the construction crew led 40-36 with 10:20 remaining in the game. From there Civilworks scored the next eight points and had its own four-point lead with 5:10 to go.  RCC’s Matt Langis scored once to cut it to two. But two Jeff Barbour free throws and a Matt Stith three pointer and the lead expanded to seven. Both teams exchanged points down the stretch until Civilworks’ Shane Hutchings made free throws in the final minute to secure the win.

RCC Construction jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead as the boys in black missed their first five attempts from the floor. When Ken Nydam made his first of two three pointers RCC led 9-7. It was midway through the first half. Three and a half minutes later, the second straight Jeff Barbour basket (off a midcourt steal and layup) and Civilworks had a 13-0 run, forcing an RCC timeout. They responded by scoring 20 points in the last seven minutes punctuated by a John Succi bucket with six seconds remaining.  At halftime RCC Construction led 29-27.

Civilworks’ Jeff Barbour and RCC’s John Succi shared scoring honors for the game with 18 points each.  Mike Casimiro added 11 for Civilworks while RCC’s Matt Langis chipped in 10 for his team in a losing cause.
